SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FIFTY-FOUR WORLD, NORTH AMERICAN AND U.S. PREMIERES
FESTIVAL TO CLOSE WITH DANIELE THOMPSON’S FRENCH FILM “JET LAG”
Seattle, WA (May 8, 2003) -- Festival Director Darryl Macdonald announced the line-up today for the 29th Annual Seattle International Film Festival to be held May 22 – June 15, 2003. The slate includes fifty-four World, North American and U.S. Premieres. In addition, the French smash hit from Director Daniele Thompson, “Jet Lag,” starring Oscar winner Juliette Binoche and Jean Reno, will be the Closing Night Gala.
“Jet Lag” is a charming romantic comedy starring Juliette Binoche as “Rose” and Jean Reno as “Felix.” Rose and Felix are two driven and very different individuals who cross paths at a crowded Paris airport where each has arrived en route to dealing with unhappy love relationships. When a sudden French transport workers strike creates chaos at the airport, bringing it to a standstill, each character is forced to deal with unanticipated solutions to their romantic dilemmas.

“In a year when the Festival is doing a special focus on Women in Cinema, it's icing on the cake to be able to present such a crowd-pleasing, star-driven comedy/romance -- that also happens to be directed and written by a woman -- at our Closing Night Gala. With a quality line up of over 50 world or U.S. premieres amid the 220 features on view at this year's Festival, it's serendipity to be able to put such a perfect capper on the event” said Darryl Macdonald, Festival Director and Founder.
