Asbrey of Westender is on a quest to recover his prized possession; a ring which serves as his connection to the past. Drunken, shiftless, and a penniless troublemaker, Asbrey has nothing left when he loses his ring. In desperation, he sets out to recover his treasure from the men he lost it to. On the way, Asbrey is steadily forced into confronting the past he has been running from for so long.
